Lindsay Davenport Tribute: Part 1

What better way to begin a tribute to the great Lindsay Davenport than by showing a few clips from some of her best matches. So many of which were against Venus Williams. Catch them while you can before YouTube deletes them.

Clockwise from top left: Last Game of 2004 US Open Round of 16, Part 1; Last Game of 2004 US Open Round of 16, Part 2; 2005 Wimbledon Final (I absolutely love the commentator!); 2005 Amelia Island QF. Enjoy!

Lindsay on the verge of choking a set away while serving for the match is hardly a tribute. This is more of a testament to Venus' fighting spirit.
How about some highlights of Lindsay's double bagel win over Sharapova, who was number 3 player in the world at the time?
How about her win over Graf at Wimbledon 99?
A highlight from a match that she lost (as great as it was) is more of a show of your partiality toward Venus. A tribute should make Lindsay happy- should she happen to see it. I know she doesn't watch that Wimby 2005 tape often.

Watching Women Wimby final 05 and Men Aussie Open Semi 05, one can't help noticing the similarity. Marat and Venus both saved a matched point against their powerful opponent, world No1. Both came back from hard time and drought. Both produced thrilling fight. One still wonders if their marginal win was luck or God's will.
Without Linsay such historical match wouldn't have happened. In the end, "triumph" and "disaster" are just "two imposters”, the two sides of a precious and unforgettable moment in sport.

Congratulation to Linsay. Becoming a mom is the best thing that could happen to a woman.
